18 favorite classical melodies arrangements and transcriptions for clarinet and piano. Foreword by Richard Stoltzman.
I am super excited to present to you this Embrace sheet music book based on my second album. Thank you for all your love and support since the launch of my first clarinet sheet music book, Hidden Treasures, which is filled with famous opera arias. Your kind encouragement over the years has inspired me to keep going and now I’m delighted to share more beloved classical pieces, originally written for the piano, voice and other instruments, that I arranged and transcribed for the clarinet.
As a young girl growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, my parents used to tell me to play something on my clarinet whenever they had friends or family come over to visit. But somehow, I had nothing to play. I dug through my band folder and church hymnbook in search of short and sweet clarinet music, but to no avail. The piano was the first instrument I learned, and I remember relishing the numerous beautiful pieces written by all of the most famous composers, from Bach to Beethoven, Mozart to Chopin. I often wondered, ”Why not for the clarinet?”
Today, I am thrilled to share with you another clarinet sheet music volume of transcriptions that I find fun, technically challenging and musically stimulating. These relaxing and fabulous solo pieces cover a broad range of genres that wonderfully highlight the clarinet’s rich palette of sound colors. The pieces collected within are well suited for players of all levels and are perfect for playing at weddings, church services, school solo performances or as recital encores.
I hope that my book will help to broaden the clarinet repertoire so that younger players will have a richer variety of choices between Rubank and Poulenc.
